Four new kittens. Any takers?
Banding peregrine falcon chicks!
The view from the banding site and a climber going down to the nest. The Giant sleeping in the background.
Canada Day fun at the neighbours’. A much more relaxed swimming environment than the swim I took the kids on earlier in the day! See below.
Thankfully, this little one slept soundly through the entire outing. That helped.
Prepping a new vermi-compost bin.
A church picnic and friends’ baptism in the rushing river after torrential rains. Thankfully, all survived their baptisms.
It was a lot of fun…. almost makes me want to go to a church. Of course, couldn’t we just go to all the picnics? 🙂
OK…. add this to my list of “things I want to build”. A foot powered lathe!
At the wooden boat show we found the perfect canoe for our family! Hmmm…. might be a little heavy to portage.
Pond/wet land exploration with biologist friend of a friend.
I was really nervous going into the brood box for the first time, so here I am happy to have survived. Z, standing only a few feet away and photographing, asked, “What in the world are you worried about? You are covered from head to toe in protective gear!” Yesterday, Z and I opened the hive to put the feeder back on without wearing gear or smoking the bees. They got a little agitated. One killed itself trying to sting Z (only got his sleeve). We decided that, while maybe no gear is ok for this gentle hive, we will at least prepare the smoker.
