Happy Birthday, Israel

Persecuted, hated, cast as the villain, marked for extermination, Israel has witnessed miracles, it’s very birth (or rebirth) as a nation being one of them. Jewish people returning to their homeland out of Nazi ghettos and concentration camps became fighters, and against incredible odds pressed back six Arab armies.

Dispersed among all nations beginning in ancient times when they were led away captive to Babylon and continuing to 135 A.D. and the Roman exile, the Jews have truly been “scattered among all nations” as foretold. The condition under which this fate would come to pass was this: If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD…….And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone. And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind: And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life: In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

Sadly, this is what happened. But God did not cast them off forever. His covenant with Abraham would not be broken. He promised to gather them again as a nation to the land he swore to give Abraham.

Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither. They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel……… Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

Just as promised, so it has come to pass. It was also foretold that the temple would be rebuilt. Preparations for the rebuilding of the temple are well underway even now. The battle is yet to be fought over the location – that sacred site where now stands the Dome of the Rock.

God has a peace plan for Israel. It is one that few world leaders – and certainly not the UN – accept. But God, being a God of his word, isn’t interested in whether we accept it or not, whether we like it or not. He has said it. He will do it.

Happy Birthday, Israel!

Was that Graeme that left that comment? (don’t say “no, it was God.”!!) 🙂 Funny.

Haha! No, it wasn’t Graeme. I’m not sure which “god” it was though? I took a brief look at “god’s” blog…. I was too tired to read anything, but it looked like it had the potential to be funny.
