The Off the Shelf page has been sorely neglected. Here’s an attempt to get it up-to-date, at least with the books I consider noteworthy.
Tracking Trash: Flotsam, Jetsam, and the Science of Ocean Motion by Loree Griffin Burns – a interesting (and disturbing) look at ocean currents and the trash contained in them.
We (Gabe especially) have been enjoying Anno’s Math Games I and II. We’ll try to get all the other volumes next library trip. It is giving us lots of inspiration for “math” that just seems like “fun”.
King David – I and II Samuel (the Bible)
The Lamb by John R. Cross
Even Donkeys Speak by Mary McDonald (from Gospel for Asia)
The Empty Pot – Demi
Two Towers – Tolkien (when Graeme is home)
Various books about fossils, ice age, dinosaurs, sea reptiles, etc.
As for me, these are some things I’ve read and am reading or re-reading (in no particular order):
The Gift of Dyslexia – Ronald D. Davis
Life at the Bottom: The Worldview that Makes the Underclass – Theodore Dalrymple
The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat – Oliver Sacks (again!)
Bible Believers’ Commentary Series – mostly Romans, James, and John lately
E.M. Bound Complete Works on Prayer
